Our commitment to education

We are committed to providing a fully inclusive environment in accordance with Ontario’s programming and pedagogy "How Does Learning Happen?"

Using this as a guideline, we aim to:

  • Cultivate authentic, caring relations and connections, and create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults and the world around them
  • Nurture children’s well-being and healthy development, and support their growing sense of self
  • Provide an environment and experiences that engage children in active, creative and meaningful exploration, play and inquiry
  • Foster communication and expression in many different forms

Infants 6 to 18 months

Infants are born ready to learn, and they develop emotionally, physically and intellectually in leaps and bounds during their important first year. As they grow, they begin exploring their environment: to touch and manipulate objects to learn about the world around them. We nurture and care for infants using a play-based philosophy in our relaxed, safe, stimulating and happy infant room. We are happy to follow established routines from home.

Our camps also welcome children who don’t attend SSCC during the regular school year.

Field Trips

Our field trips are fun and educational, helping children to experience more of the world around them. Parents are always welcome to attend field trips and enjoy a day out with the Centre.
